In connection

The installation Historia (History – in French) evokes how history with a capital H is constructed today: the most powerful and richest stories are still within the old colonial empires.
While walking in the department of EL BENI, in the north of Bolivia, I came across an exhibition of ceramic objects, discovered by forest rangers when they were building huts. They collected a large quantity of cylindrical or rectangular objects. They then repeatedly asked the government authorities to study these objects and to know their history. Due to lack of money, only a dating could be done: they would date from the Tiwanaku era. These objects are now exhibited in a very small white room, created expressly for the occasion, without any other explanation than the one just given.
This installation takes up the staging found in Beni of these unknown objects and places it in front of the Louvre museum: a high place of the making of History.
